RE: 2007 NTEU National Convention — June 29, 2007 Registration Deadline
SUMMARY: The 51st NTEU National Convention Registration and Hotel Reservation Form can be downloaded from the NTEU web site, www.nteu.org. Or, you can register online by visiting the NC-Online Registration page under the heading National Convention under the menu option Union Office. Chapter leaders and members must log on to the NTEU web site and enter their username and password in order to register online.
As you are aware, the 2007 NTEU National Convention will be held August 6–9, 2007. The Convention Registration and Hotel Reservation Form are attached. The form can also be downloaded from the Union Office section of the NTEU web site at www.nteu.org. Online registration is also available by visiting the NC-Online Registration page under the heading National Convention under the menu option Union Office.
The Convention Registration and Hotel Reservation Form must be completed and received by the National Office no later than June 29, 2007, to ensure that all delegates are registered for the convention. Online registration must also be completed, with payment processed or received by the National Office, no later than June 29, 2007.
For planning purposes, please note that delegates who attend the convention must have their credentials certified by completing the delegate certification forms that will be mailed to chapters on April 13, 2007. Any questions regarding the delegate certification process should be directed to Geri Khan at the NTEU National Office at (202) 572-5500, ext. 7028.
In addition, all delegates, nondelegate members, and/or those in need of room reservations are required to complete the registration form or register online to reserve a room at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers. For your information, the NTEU group room rate will be $195 per night, plus tax and charges — or a total of $224.58 per night (triple and quad occupancy rates higher). Convention registration will begin on Sunday, August 5, 2007. The convention will officially open on Monday, August 6, 2007, and will conclude with a banquet on the evening of Thursday, August 9, 2007.
It is very important that every delegate and/or nondelegate member plan to stay at the convention hotel. When NTEU enters into a contract with a convention hotel, we are required to meet a specified room block. Therefore, for every delegate who does not stay at the convention hotel, the risk of our not meeting the required room block is increased, with significant financial penalties. To fulfill our contract and to fully participate in the convention, the expectation is that all delegates stay at the convention hotel. The NTEU Executive Board has passed a Resolution regarding this issue.
